Pay it forward
This - because Corey Brown is awesome and he is right. Pay it forward. Our community is all about support. So, show, don’t (just) tell.
coreybrown:
Try to remember what you needed when you were just starting as an improviser. Try to remember those things that helped you get over some slumps. Remember the first time someone you admired as an improviser walked up to you and told you they...

Amy Cuddy presents interesting reseach on body language.
poptech:
Social psychologist Amy Cuddy’s pioneering research shows that subtle manipulations in posture can actually change our hormone levels and dramatically alter the way we feel and are perceived by the people around us. Just two minutes in one of Cuddy’s power poses lowered cortisol levels and actually changed...

My (Internet*) Viral Week, and moving right along.
I love you Michelle. I can’t wait to see you after surgery when I am back from Paris.
bizarrozero:
*I think I probably irritated the heck out of my favorite nurse by sending him links with the subject line I’m Viral!
It’s funny - having my post all over the world’s internets made me freeze up from my normal everyday blogging. I’m back on it - first, a few little recaps.
My favorite...

Male feminism. Malefeminism?
I heart Middleditch. He’s funny and smart. And his assessment of Cosmopolitan is very much on point.
I used to write for Cosmopolitan in France - but the editorial line was very different and feminist, and it was run almost exclusively by women at the time (not sure now).
I was shocked when I saw the editorial headlines here in the US. Same in the UK. Not sure what gives.
Don’t...

Laughing To Keep From Crying of the Day
More Hell Yes Michelle!!!
thedailywhat:
Laughing To Keep From Crying of the Day: Comedienne Michelle L. Dobrawsky has rectal cancer. You’d think she’d be depressed, but she’s just too darn busy laughing about it.
As amusing as rectal cancer is, Dobrawsky laments the fact that it too often takes a back seat to sexier siblings such as breast cancer. It doesn’t even have its own ribbon!
Her...

yourfriendmitch asked: Just to be clear. We're on the same team for this "not for girls/women" thing. Not only to point out how silly it is that that campaign has gone on for 35 years, but also to note that Dr. Pepper's new campaign is not original, as well as bad. I value your 2 cents!

Melissa McCarthy is having more than a moment
healywu:
yodelmachine:
Dorothy sez:
Melissa McCarthy is having more than a moment. She is having an era. Sure, maybe not necessarily in length, but definitely in importance. Breakout star status doesn’t usually happen to 40-something, plus-sized women. And when I say “usually,” I mean ever. But here she is with a brand new Emmy on her mantle and a blockbuster comedy hit on her resume and a...

Change The World
Everybody can change the world. Those who say: “The world is not fair and we can’t change it” are those who forget that two hundred years ago, slavery was legal in the US; a hundred years ago, Russia had a tzar; fifty years ago, computers didn’t exist for the masses; twenty years ago, the Berlin wall had just come down and Germany was figuring out how to reunite; ten years...

Thoughts on Steve Jobs' passing at my blog →
This kind of explains the way I feel - not a cultist, not even someone who likes everything Apple does, but someone who grew up in a world strongly influenced by Apple products and technological boundary breaking. Also, Jobs death hit me in the stomach because he lost his battle to cancer, and I have a hard time accepting that this still happens.

A Whale or a Mermaid?
This has been going around Facebook with a picture of the gorgeous Tara Lynn, French Model.
I love this because it shows how the French are breaking one of the artificial barriers erected by the media and by the movie industry for women: the weight and body image barrier.
This is the story published on October 3, 2011, on Facebook:
“A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a...
