Poupak's Parisian Life in New York

I am a French-Iranian woman with a passion for comedy. I have been lucky enough to be performing all over New York since 2010. I was a TV producer and a head writer for a morning live news show in France, as well as a free lance journalist and a book editor for many years.

Now, I am a life and a career coach (member of ICF), an improviser, a writer, and a show producer. I love my life!

I am a performer at the UCB & sometimes produce shows at The PIT in New York.

NaNaSkeWriMoSkeShow: The National “National Sketch Writing Month” Sketch Show

Alright, guys! Chicago had their chance to show off sketches this past weekend so now it’s New York’s turn!

Everyone head on down to the UCB Theatre in Chelsea this Friday at Midnight to check out what some of the craziness that the Big Apple writers cooked up last month!

Everyone! This is going to be a super fun show! Come on out on Friday and have a blast!

This is an amazing show, coming out of a great great great concept imagined by Michelle Dobrawsky and that has now a life of its own, AND it’s in several cities!  Don’t miss it!

The site for the National Sketch Writing Month is ready for your sketches. Record your progress and share your sketches.

I am doing this this year. Every year I would say that I was going to and then somehow not, but this year I am finally taking the plunge.

The original idea for this came from Michelle Dobrawsky, an awesome lady who passed away this week. Live your life to the fullest by writing a sketch every day! DO IT.

Here is a video I worked on for National Sketch Writing Month.  ENJOY!

I was going to write about this show and it popped up on my Tumblr dashboard!

I am fulfilling one of my dreams with this show: Staging a Star Trek (classic) scene! Of course, it’s a parody, but I have the PERFECT Captain Kirk, the PERFECT Bones, the PERFECT Spock, and the PERFECT red shirts! Seriously! Come to this show - it’ll be great!

at UCB Chelsea, is the NaNaSkeWriMoSkeShow!

$5, at midnight, come see sketches written as part of NaSkeWriMo!

Featuring the talents of: Matt Grote, Poupak Sepehri, Jon Bershad, Aubrie Williams, John Zachary Townsend, Abbi Crutchfield, Adam Wagner, Sal Gentile, Danielle Cook and Kate Emswiler, Will Storie and Camp Woods…and others!

Come out and laugh! Details. Or, reservations!

I did it!! I can’t even express what this did to me. It’s about self imposed deadlines and writing incessantly and goals. I took this opportunity to rewrite some of my old sketches and make them better - make them GOOD. I also wrote a web series (some rewrites necessary here) and in the last stretch where I was 15 sketches late, I wrote the missing pieces form my one person show that I had been working on ever since I took a class with Becky. It created a clarity and focus I didn’t have - that’s what writing on deadline does to me in general. But this time, it was writing on a deadline for ME. I had to focus on MY OWN goals. I know the pieces I wrote for my one person show need to be refined and rewritten - but now I am in a position where I can go to a director and seek help and feedback for rewrites.

Thank you for all those who created the National Sketch Writing Month. It’s an amazing event and I would recommend everyone participate if you can and care about being a writer.

We did it guys - we did it!

Great job all!  Kudos to the 30 club!  And a warm hug to those who tried!

Congrats, everyone! That’s it for NaSkeWriMo 2011, where we wrote a whopping 1405 sketches! Just a quick shout out to everyone who managed to make it to 30:

Awesome post! Thanks!!

Last year, I weirdly decided to make my own type of NaSkeWriMo. The goal I had for myself was to write 20 sketches, in a week. The thing I found hard in that week wasn’t actually writing, or coming up with beats of a sketch or finding the time. The thing I found hard was actually coming up…

…with what? You’ll have to click through to find out!
